Shining Billy is less messed up than Billy's Quest, but is still bad enough that untangling it seems futile.
Most of the game is described as Action RPG, but it's pretty much Zeux mechanics with a horrible sword engine. It only attacks up to one space away, and any enemy that gets near the player instantly drains health. Oh, and you only have 6 health. Explosions that still take 5 health will appear near the player and end the game with no warning. There's a single JRPG menu battle which is more playable but still pretty basic.
Near the last area you can access through normal play, there's a demo of a game called Blocks. It's the best thing in here for sure. But even with that, there's a better version of Blocks in the archive. After that, the game teleports you into a wall and I'm not sure how to fix it to proceed normally.
There is a whole second .mzx file that the game would swap to if you could play all the way through. But it is also a mess of broken content and you get stuck part of the way through.
Graphics and music selection aren't terrible compared to everything else about the game. The music selection is actually pretty good in parts. But, the color pulsing viewport window is offensive.
I'd have given this two stars just for the Blocks implementation, but the rest of the game is bad enough to lose points. Sucks that it's unplayable, because there is a lot of content here.
